The Applicants (and Reports) table has more capabilities than meets the eye. You will see a search box and next to it, Advanced Filters, which is clickable. When you click on Advanced Filters more options for searching and filtering will open.
You'll be able to sort alphabetically, group by a field, search and filter the table, and hide/show columns of information.
For example, if you would like to assign your evaluators to all of the submitted applications, you can use the "Status" dropdown and select "Submitted". This will refresh the table and display only the submitted applications. Then, you can select all of the applications in the list and then click the "Evaluator" button.
To search for a specific applicant, enter their name or a portion of their name into the First Name or Last Name field and hit Enter.
